The house owes its name from the designer Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre born in Getaria, Spain, in 1895. With his incredible technique and creativity, Balenciaga is seen as one of the best fashion designers. It is only after the Second World War that Baleciaga revolutionized the feminine silhouette with his classical and uncluttered style, very appreciated by the Queens of Spain and Belgium, the Princess Grace of Monaco and the Duchess of Windsor. The designer decided to withdraw in 1968. Since December 2012 Alexander Wang has supervised the brand belonging nowadays to the Kering Group.
